Two layers of maple make every square a recessed well, so a piece you set down stays down instead of sliding off a printed grid at the first bump of the table. Board and pieces are clear coated, the pieces are cut 1/4 inch thick from cherry and maple, and the board is 7 by 5.75 inches and half an inch thick, which is small enough to live in the camp box all season.
