Over four hundred stickers, cut out and photographed, ready to go anywhere a child can reach. Not cartoon horses: full color photographic stickers of real breeds in real motion, a bay at full gallop, a dappled gray with a hoof lifted, a Clydesdale foal, a chestnut mid rear beside a hay bale. Around them the whole world of the barn in miniature, cowboy hats and riding helmets, horseshoes, rosettes, trophies, carrots, apples and a bale of hay.

The trick is the adhesive. These peel off and go back on again without tearing and without losing their stick, so a scene made on a window on Monday moves to a notebook on Tuesday and a lunch box on Wednesday. The two inside covers are printed as glossy illustrated backgrounds, which means the book is also the play surface: build a paddock scene, take it apart, build a different one.

Twelve pages at a generous 10.3 by 8.8 inches, so the sticker sheets are big enough to peel without help. The publisher puts it at ages 5 to 12, and the printed back cover records the Eyelike Stickers series past two million copies in print. At under seven dollars it is the best behaved thing you can hand a horse obsessed child on a long drive.
