A small green frog that sits on the counter and grins at you while dinner cooks. Turn the dial and it counts down anything up to sixty minutes in one minute increments, then rings a clear little ding when the time is up.

There is no battery to die and no screen to unlock. You wind it by hand, which is why it still works in a power cut and why it is never flat on the morning you are baking. Moulded in ABS over a steel movement, 5.5 centimetres across the dial and 4.5 centimetres tall, so it takes almost no counter space, and the dial is big enough that small hands can set it for their own toothbrushing or piano practice.
