"Every day I learn something new, With each adventure I share with you..." So begins this little Peter Rabbit hardcover, a rhyming thank you from a small bunny to the grandmother who turns ordinary days into adventures. On the cover a rabbit in a blue dress gathers the little ones into her lap in a sunny yellow chair, and that hug sets the tone for every page.

The verse is short and lilting, easy for a preschooler to join in on by the second reading. The pictures carry the soft, whimsical charm of Beatrix Potter's original drawings in a fresh, modern design, with coral, sunshine yellow and cornflower blue lettering on a lavender cover. It reads in a few cozy minutes, which is why it becomes the book a grandchild asks for again at nap time.

Give it to Grandma for her birthday, Grandparents Day or Mother's Day, slip it into a new baby's welcome basket, or let a grandchild hand it over with a crayon signature inside the front cover. At 5.8 by 7 inches it is small enough to ride along in a handbag to every visit.
