On the day before Christmas, Mr. Willowby is pacing outside his front door. The frost is in the air and the candles are burning, but the parlor does not look quite right, because the truck bringing his grand Christmas tree is stuck fast in a snowdrift and cannot get free.
What happens next is the whole reason for the title. Frisky Fox goes by with a large Christmas sack and his friend Dusty Duck chattering loudly in quacks, a bear cries Make way!, and the tree scoops the lot of them up and carries them down the mountainside. It arrives at the parlor with a swoosh and a slide, bearing five woodland pals on a hair-raising ride, and it turns out to be the friendliest tree they had ever seen.
