Built on an Old English recipe, this wassail kit blends orange peel, ginger, cinnamon, allspice, and cloves for the warm, fragrant character of traditional mulled wine. The name comes from Middle English wæs hæl, meaning be you healthy.
Fill one muslin drawstring bag with ⅓ cup of spices, then simmer it with a gallon of red wine or port and ½ cup of sugar. Serve the finished wassail hot or chilled.
Hand blended and packaged by Oliver Pluff & Co., the kit makes three gallons for shared toasts, winter gatherings, and a storied host gift.
