Two citrus flavours, one bag, and no argument about which is better. Hermann the German presses these Bavarian hard candies into little orange and lemon slice shapes, then flavours them with real orange and lemon oil rather than a generic citrus note, so the orange lands round and sweet and the lemon comes in sharp behind it. The colour is worth mentioning: instead of synthetic dyes the recipe uses concentrates of carrot, red beet juice, apple and pumpkin, which is why the pieces read as warm and slightly muted rather than fluorescent. Hermann Werner started the company in 1997 because he could not find the sweets he grew up with in Germany, and this bag is the reason the company kept going. Slow to dissolve, honest in flavour, and made in Germany to the same method.
