Terracotta is the colour that makes a kitchen look considered rather than decorated, and this waffle weave mitt lands it without trying. It is woven from linen and cotton, and the raised waffle grid does two useful things at once: it gives your grip something to bite on when you are lifting a hot handle, and it gives the cloth air so it dries out between uses instead of staying damp on the hook.

At 12 inches long by 7 inches wide it covers the wrist as well as the hand, which is the part that actually catches the rim of the oven. A short fabric loop is stitched into the cuff so it can live on a hook beside the range rather than buried in a drawer, and it is good looking enough that leaving it out is the point.
