Peter Rabbit has made the classic mistake. He hid his sisters' Christmas presents somewhere very safe, congratulated himself, and then completely forgot where. Now it is Christmas morning, Mrs. Rabbit's treats are laid out, the tree is decorated, and Flopsy, Mopsy and Cotton tail are waiting.

So the reader goes looking. Snowdrifts, tree roots, hollow logs and hedgerows all hide flaps, and lifting them is the story: sometimes a present, sometimes a squirrel who would rather not be disturbed. Twenty four pages at a landscape 10.21 by 8.28 inch trim, so each snowy scene gets room to spread out.

The artwork keeps Beatrix Potter's world intact, soft watercolor woodland and small animals in waistcoats, and the search structure gives a three year old a job to do instead of sitting still. Publisher guidance is ages 3 to 5. It is a genuinely good read for the week before Christmas, when nobody can sit still anyway.
