Hemingway is a pigment-drenched botanical green with the slightest blue undertone, the deep green of conservatory leaves and old library walls. It brings calm and a sense of tradition to a study, dining room, kitchen or bedroom, and it looks wonderful beside walnut, aged brass and plenty of houseplants. In the ceramic matte the color sits deep and even, so the room feels rich and enveloping.
Hemingway is One Hour Ceramic, Wise Owl's 100% acrylic matte wall paint, made with a self-crosslinking resin and 3M ceramic microspheres instead of the crushed mineral that flattens ordinary matte paint. Those hard, round microspheres are why fingerprints, soil and grease wipe off with mild soap and water without marring the finish, and why the wall stands up to scrubbing and burnishing. It self-levels to cut brush drag, primes itself on drywall, cured plaster and masonry, covers 350 to 400 square feet per gallon, and is extremely low in VOCs at 50 g/l. The color comes from the original 25-color palette Wise Owl launched One Hour Ceramic with in 2020 and no longer appears on Wise Owl's current color list, so buy enough to finish the room in Hemingway.
