Move a slider and a dog appears, barking. Move that same slider back and a cat takes its place, meowing. Eight different pets live in this book and every slider carries two of them, which means every push is a fresh surprise rather than the same one repeating.

The sounds are the good ones: barking and meowing, yes, but also a dog guzzling its dinner and something splashing straight through a puddle. Ailie Busby draws a cottage garden full of ladybirds, snails, bees and hiding birds, so there is plenty to point at between pushes. The sliders take a shove rather than careful aim, which is what makes this work for hands that cannot manage a small button yet.
