Cabinet painters reach for an oval brush because it holds so much paint. The deep oval head soaks up a full load, so you dip less often and keep a wet edge across a whole door, and its rounded profile carries paint into the inside corners of a raised panel without leaving a hard line behind. Doors, drawer fronts and side panels go fast and level out smooth.
Pick your size. Medium (O40) has a 37 mm head, a comfortable all round size for nightstands, chairs and most medium sized projects. Large (O45) is the bigger oval, made for dresser tops, long cabinet runs and other large surfaces where speed counts.
Every filament is set in epoxy cement, so stray bristles stay out of a fresh coat. Leave the gray cord around the head in place: it holds the oval shape wash after wash. Made by hand in Holland, it is just as happy in chalk paint as in enamel or a water based poly.
