Spindles, banisters, chair legs and turned table legs are where a flat brush lets you down, leaving ridges on the curves and drips in the grooves. A round brush wraps around the shape instead. Load it once, roll it down a spindle, and the dense head carries paint into every turning and lays it off smooth, so there is nothing to sand back before the topcoat.

Five sizes, one for each job. X-Small (R12) has an 18 mm head for picture frames, small boxes and fine detail. Small (R14) has a 22 mm head for carved details and moldings. Medium (R16), at 26 mm, is the spindle brush. Large (R18) takes on thicker spindles and legs, and X-Large (R20) is the one to own if you paint furniture every week.

The synthetic filaments are bonded in epoxy, so they stay in the brush and out of your finish. Leave the gray cord wrapped around the head: it keeps the round shape crisp through years of washing. Handmade in Holland for chalk paint, enamel and every water based finish.
