Page two prints a speech bubble that says "I can FLY." and then nothing at all: no wings, no creature, just the white paper where a child draws whatever it was that said it. Eighteen scenes work that way, each one started for you in line drawing and then handed over. What did the Diplodocus get for its birthday, what is the Dracorex’s favourite film, and how many muddy dinosaurs can you fit in one bathtub.

The pages are drawn open on purpose. A stegosaurus boasts that its back plates are so cool and a long neck answers that you should check out the spikes on its tail, and the white space around them is yours. Turn over and a second long neck sniffs "Not as cool as mine!" while a small bird on a rock calls them both show-offs. On another page an orange dinosaur pushes a basket past supermarket shelves of blank jars, cans and packets, wondering what it should choose, and the shelves stay blank until a child fills them.

That is the difference between this and a colouring book: the joke is not finished until the child finishes it. Krysia Ellis prints the boast and leaves the boaster. The bubble is already lettered; the dinosaur claiming it may not be drawn yet, and neither are the packets on the shelf, so the same page comes out differently every time it is done. Twenty four pages, pocket sized, and it costs about the same as a packet of crisps.
