Little dishes earn their keep every single day. This one is a 3-1/2 inch round of stoneware, painted by hand inside with a creature or a harvest still life and finished in a reactive crackle glaze of speckled beige and sage. That glaze settles its own way in every firing, so each dish has its own shading.
Choose your painting. Pheasant wears a red face, a teal collar and a rust chest. Fox looks straight at you, orange with a fluffy white chest. Turkey stands proud with a rust and cream tail. Pumpkins sets an orange pumpkin beside a pale cream one. Fill it with cranberry sauce, salted nuts or a dip on the Thanksgiving table, park it by the sink for your rings, or line up all four as a set of tiny treasures. At this price it is easy to buy one for every place setting.
