Meet Mortar — the warm greige glaze that reads like old plaster settling into a hundred years of carving. It is the quiet one in the Wise Owl line-up: not grey, not brown, but the soft taupe of weathered stonework. It does its best work on pieces you want to look found rather than finished.
This translucent, water-based glaze brings out the details of your piece. Wiped over a soft mint like Vintage Duck Egg it leaves a dusty, sun-worn haze; over a deep teal like Abyss it lifts every raised edge in pale stone. Start with the 2oz Sample to test it on your own color, take the 4oz for a single piece, or the 8oz jar for a full project. A little goes a long way.
You'll also need a clear topcoat
Glaze goes on over one coat of Wise Owl Varnish or One Hour Enamel Clear, then gets sealed with the same topcoat for full protection. Sold separately.
