Wise Owl Glaze in Black is a deep black-gray glaze — versatile, dramatic, and at home over every color. Brushed over a painted and sealed finish, it slips into carved details, moulding lines, and raised grain, then wipes cleanly off the high spots, leaving crisp definition where a flat color fell flat. Over whites it reads as fine charcoal shading; over deep colors it adds shadow and age.

This is a translucent glaze, not a paint — it tints and shades what's beneath it. Apply it after your final coat of paint has dried completely and been sealed with one coat of Wise Owl Varnish or One Hour Enamel Clear (One Hour Enamel paints carry a built-in topcoat, so you can glaze right over them). Working over a topcoat gives you more open time and full control of the effect. Available in a 2 oz sample, 8 oz, and 16 oz.
