The oldest mouse in the house, and the one children give the longest stories to. He wears a soft checked bucket hat, a plaid jacket over a blue check shirt, a red tartan bow tie, rust corduroy shorts and a pair of gray rubber boots with yellow toes. Maileg gives him a stitched mustache, which is the detail people notice first and the reason he reads as a grandfather rather than another big mouse.

In Maileg's family sizing he is a grandparent, which is the same size as the parents, and he stands 6.3 in tall, so grown-up clothes and grown-up beds fit him. A magnet sits in each paw: he can hold a metal watering can, take the handle of a wagon, or hold a grandchild's paw and not let go. Cotton, filled with recycled polyester and PE pellets. He arrives loose rather than in a box, which makes him an easy add-on to a set somebody is already collecting.

Maileg's own name for him is Granddad mouse, item number 17-5320-00, made in China. Granddad is graded 3 and over by Maileg and should not go to a child under 3.
