It really rocks. That is the first thing a child tries and the reason this chair ends up in the corner of the farmhouse living room instead of in the box. Five slim spindles run up the back under a shaped crest, the arms curve out on turned supports, and two long runners carry the whole thing forward and back.

Maileg builds it in metal and paints it wheat, a deep buttery camel with an even gloss, then lays a small round cushion on the seat in a sage green paisley cloth. The cushion is loose, so it lifts out. The metal is why the chair survives being knocked off a shelf, and the cushion is why a mouse will actually sit in it.

At 10 cm (3.94 in) high it is Mouse size, the scale the mouse family shares, and Maileg drew it for the Mouse Hole Farmhouse, though the Mouse Castle takes it just as happily.
