A gift a child actually makes. Thirty two hardcover pages of prompts, checkboxes, lists and blank frames, and every one of them is finished in the child's own handwriting, which is the part Mom keeps.

The prompts are written to be answered rather than admired. A page of paper collage snails asks her to fill in a favorite food each way round: I like that you know my favorite food is, and I know that you really like. A tall orange cat stretches across a whole spread while the child tells it about her: she loves, she's amazing at, and she makes me feel important by. A striped page asks for a happy memory and then hands over a big scalloped frame for the drawing of it. A yellow spread of small worried animals lets her be checked off as the one who believes in me even when I'm scared, sad, grumpy, worried or tired. Another counts up what she provides, from the clothes I wear to the food I eat, and leaves a full page list to fill.

The artwork is cut paper collage in hot pink, orange, green and yellow, and the cover is debossed, so the lettering sits below the surface of the board. The back reads: for my mom, because you're one of a kind. The pages are thick enough to take crayon, marker, pen or colored pencil, and most children finish the whole thing in an afternoon.
