It never needs sharpening. The Magic Pencil writes with a compressed graphite tip set into a steel barrel, and Snifty rates that one tip at the equivalent of 100 regular pencils. No shavings, no sharpener, no stub at the bottom of the pencil case.

This is the white barrel, and it comes with a chunky jelly eraser shading from blue to purple, a protective cap for the graphite tip, and two spare tips in the pack.

Worth knowing before you buy: a compressed graphite tip lays down a lighter line than a wooden pencil, close to an HB, with a subtler mark and very little smudging. That is exactly right for notes, lists, sketching and marking up a book, and it is the reason the page stays clean. The barrel is tree-free, which is the other half of the point.
