Wise Owl Glaze in Dark Star is a midnight navy scattered with fine blue and silver shimmer, near black in shadow and unmistakably blue the moment light hits it. Wiped into carved detail it gives the depth a black glaze gives without the flatness, which is why it lands so well on panelled doors, spindles and beadwork. Over a white it reads as cold slate; over a dark base it disappears into the shadow and only the shimmer stays.

This is a water based glaze, not a paint. Wise Owl builds the line with flat or metallic pigments depending on the color, and it tints and shades whatever sits beneath it instead of covering it. That means it works two ways: over a painted piece that has been sealed, or straight onto bare wood for a gel stain finish. Available in a 2 oz sample, 4 oz and 8 oz.
