Wise Owl Glaze in Driftwood is a soft weathered gray, the color of wood that has spent a season in the sun and the salt. Over a white like Isles Ave it settles into carved moulding as a sun bleached gray that ages the piece without dirtying it. Our own listing calls it out as a favorite for using as a wood stain, and the brand agrees: glaze may be used alone over bare wood for a gel stain finish.
This is a water based glaze, not a paint. Wise Owl builds the line with flat or metallic pigments depending on the color, and it tints and shades whatever sits beneath it instead of covering it. That means it works two ways: over a painted piece that has been sealed, or straight onto bare wood for a gel stain finish. Available in a 2 oz sample, 4 oz and 8 oz.
