Most bell peppers get picked green and never show what they can do. Golden California Wonder is worth the wait. The four inch blocky fruit ripens from green through golden yellow to a deep orange, and the flesh is thick and very sweet. One planting gives you crisp green peppers early and gold and orange ones by late summer. Plants stay compact at about two feet, which suits a big container as well as a row. Start the seed indoors and set the plants out once frost is past. Around seventy days from transplant to your first pick, and a minimum of fifty seeds in the packet.
