Lemon cucumber earns its name on looks alone. The fruit comes round and lemon yellow rather than long and green, and it grows on semi bush plants that stay compact and crop hard, which makes it one of the easier cucumbers to fit into a raised bed. Pick at three to four inches across, while the skin is still pale and the seeds inside are soft. Direct sow after your last frost or start it early and set it out.
