A variety lucky enough to be named for exactly what it is. Tendersweet has been a favorite since 1928 and it is still one of the sweetest carrots you can grow, tender but crisp, and beautiful on the board: eight to ten inch tapered roots, deep orange all the way through with no pale core. Length like that needs somewhere to go, so give it loose soil and, if yours runs to clay or stone, a raised bed or a deep container instead. Sow as soon as the ground can be worked, then again through the cool season. About seventy five days, and at least four hundred seeds in the packet.
