From K'lani, started in Utah by Monica and Katie after Monica's braided bracelet snapped beside the plain black hair tie on the same wrist.
Nine and a half months of samples later, this is the answer: a hair tie that reads as jewelry and holds hair like a hair tie. The name honors the Hawaiian roots both families share — Kaiulani means the highest point of Heaven.

The hardware here is silver tone, not gold, which is the first thing to say about it: a stamped disc of two leaning palm trees on the mustard cord, a long slim silver tone bar on the oat cord, a short silver tone barrel closing the camel braid and the pale blue braid, and a scatter of tiny silver tone beads across the sage green multi strand. If your rings and your watch are white metal, this is the K'lani stack that sits with them instead of arguing.
K'lani picked the colors to run a seed through its life, and lists them in that order: soil, sun, water, sky and leaves. Camel, mustard, oat, sage, pale blue. It reads as a considered earthy palette on the wrist and nobody has to know it is a diagram.
All five are working hair elastics, which is the point of the brand. Wear the stack, pull one down at the trailhead or the beach or halfway through a shift, and put it back on your wrist afterward. Medium fits wrists 5 to 6.4 inches around, the size of a normal hair elastic. The charm carries the brand's own line about it: start small and grow tall.
