A book you cannot read, which is the joke, and a bed you were not expecting. The cover is drawn like an old story collection, Christmas Tales and Bedtime Stories over a snowman scene, and it stands on a shelf looking exactly like a book. Open it and the pages are a box, and inside the box a baby mouse is asleep in a red striped bed.

The baby wears a red knitted pointed hat, a red checked shirt, a gray and cream striped knitted scarf and charcoal trousers, and it is a baby mouse, the smallest size Maileg makes in the mouse family. Cotton with lyocell and ramie, filled with recycled polyester, so it is soft the whole way through with nothing hard inside it.

Maileg notes on its own page that the fabric may vary, and it says that without narrowing it, so treat the cloth of the clothes and the bedding alike as unfixed piece to piece. That is normal for this line and part of why no two of these turn up identical under a tree.
