Somebody has taken the cookie left out for Santa, and the trail runs straight down through the middle of the book. Round holes are cut clean through every board page, each one smaller than the last, so a small reader looks along a tunnel of cookie brown, white, red and green to the cookie sitting at the bottom.

Turning a page changes the whole picture, which is the trick that sends a one year old straight back to the front. The rings are printed with foil and glitter that catch the light on a Christmas morning. The publisher's own hint about where the cookie went is the dog on the cover, and the cat is worth watching too.
