Fifteen pieces, and the one that gets picked up first is the waffle iron. It is cast in black with a four heart mould, it opens on a hinge, and four waffles come with it: three rectangular ones sit in the lower plate in the photograph and the fourth, a full heart, waits on its own saucer. Each waffle has a small steel pin set into it, which means a mouse with magnets in its paws can pick one up and carry it across the room. That is the detail children find on their own within about a minute.

The rest of the set lays a breakfast table, and it is all countable: a mint cup and its saucer, a peach cup and its saucer, a mint scalloped saucer, a peach scalloped plate, a cream jug with a black rim and handle, a jar of Choco Munch spread, a jar of Poisa strawberry jam, and a tin of Hot Chocolate printed with a mouse drinking from a striped mug. With the iron and its four waffles that is the full fifteen.

Everything is Mouse size and packs back into a round sage green tin printed with a floral border and the words Waffle Set, which is a shelf object in its own right and the reason none of it goes missing.
