A penguin in a striped scarf is holding a sign that says Tours, and that is the premise: somebody has to show a one year old around the North Pole, and Santa is busy. Six chunky flaps later the tour has taken in the workshop floor, the stable, the gingerbread house and Mrs. Claus's kitchen, and the last flap is a pair of black boots waiting by the fire with a reminder not to forget them.
Everything here is built for hands that pull rather than lift. The flaps are thick glued board rather than paper, sized for a fist, and strong enough to be opened and shut several hundred times, which is roughly what will happen. Francesco Zito draws the whole North Pole in candy stripes and lamplight, and the board itself is die cut into a scalloped Christmas shape.
Twelve pages, five inches square and a full inch thick, written by Holly Berry-Byrd. Published by Cottage Door Press in August 2017 in its Babies Love Lift-a-Flap series, which also brings Babies Love Christmas and Babies on the Farm to Stellar Luxe in the same delivery.
Pieces that set the same festive table.
