This is the smallest way into PicassoTiles, and it is deliberately built as a first set rather than a cut-down one. Twenty-four Mini Diamond pieces, 18 triangles across a range of sizes and 6 squares, is enough vocabulary for a rocket, a house or a flat mosaic, and few enough that a two-minute tidy-up is honest rather than optimistic.
The Mini Diamond finish is what sets these apart from the clear tiles: each face is cut into four translucent quarters in soft pastels, so a build catches light in facets instead of flat panes. On a hotel bedspread or a folding tray they read as jewels, and the smaller footprint means a whole structure fits on a surface that would only hold two full-size tiles.
One thing to know before you buy, stated plainly because PicassoTiles states it plainly: the Mini Diamond series connects to other Mini Diamond and travel sets, and does not connect to the regular full-size PicassoTiles magnetic building blocks. If you want a travel set that merges with the tiles already in the playroom, the nano series is the one that does that. If you want a self-contained travel set that stays in the bag, this is it.
