Each scene comes with one short instruction, which is the reason this works for a three year old who cannot read it yet: an adult reads the line once and the child gets on with it. Gentle giants asks you to stick long necked leaf eaters poking out between the trees, and a finished page has red and yellow heads craning out of the bushes with leaves in their mouths. By the river asks for four Spinosaurus standing in the shallows ready for a fishy feast, under a waterfall and a row of palms. Under the sea asks you to fill the water with swimming reptiles of all shapes and sizes and add prehistoric fish darting between them.

Between them the scenes cover the fearsome meat eaters, the gentle leaf eaters and the early creatures of the sky and sea, so a child ends up sorting dinosaurs by where they lived without being told that is what they are doing. Thirty two pages at about seven by nine inches, light enough to go in a bag for a restaurant or a long drive.
